Hazrat Umar ibn al-Khattab is the second greatest caliphate to trade the earth after Hazrat Abu Bakar Siddique r.a. He was the greatest warrior. He was a man who was feared. Hazrat Umar Farooq was 13 years younger than Prophet Muhammad ﷺ. He was at 27 when Prophethood was granted to Muhammad ﷺ. Hazrat Umar ibn al-Khattab was known as the ambassador of Quraish. Whenever there were problems and difficulties in the position of Quraish had to be explained, they sent Hazrat Umar. He was a strong man, powerful and well spoken. But before accepting Islam, Hazrat Umar was involved in what today a misguided youth does. He used to make his own idols and worshipped them. The reason for mentioning this, my brothers and sisters, if you have goodness in your heart, no matter what you have done in the past, there always hope for you.
