Common Misconceptions About Islam:
- Islam is the new religion founded by Prophet Muhammad ï·º.
- Islam emerged about 1500 years ago.
- What about the first human 'Adam'? Was he a Muslim?
- Muhammad (PBUH) is the only Prophet of Islam.
- Jesus, Moses, David, etc were not Muslims.
- Muslims worship new God called Allah.
- Muslims worship Prophet Muhammad ï·º.
- Most of the Muslims are Arabs.
These are some of the common misconceptions, non-Muslims and most of the Muslims have who don't know the basic meaning of Islam.
Here in this post, I have tried to answer through the meaning of Islam.
Meaning Of Islam:
Islam roots to two Arabic words:
- 'Salm' which means peace; and
- 'Silm' means submission.
Islam is achieving peace by surrendering oneself to the will of one true God.
Who are Muslims?
Those who follow Islam are Muslims.
According to this definition, everything in the universe (Trees, Planets, Satellites, etc.) are Muslims because these are in a state of submission to God's will (They are following as what God created them for).
This also means all the Prophets were Muslims because they did what God sent them for. All the Prophets like Jesus, Moses, David, etc. were sent on the earth to lead people of that time towards the only God.
But after the birth of Prophet Muhammad ï·º, there is a compulsion in having the faith that Mohammad SAW is the last and the final messenger sent by God for the whole of mankind.
The answer is simple - From the beginning of the universe not just from 1500 years ago.
It's clear that every child is a born Muslims but after that, they are converted to what their parents follow.

God is the founder of Islam.No, Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) is not the founder of Islam. He was the final Prophet sent for mankind.
We, Muslims don't worship Prophet Muhammad or any new God... We worship the same God worshipped by Prophets Adam to Noah, Moses, Jesus and Muhammad ï·º.
